AAC is a proudly carbon neutral certified company
AAC is on a mission. We want to be the most sustainable specialist pre-treatment and powder coating company in the UK.
We have been able to announce neutrality as we used verified carbon offsetting schemes.
Carbon offsetting is the process of compensating for the emission of greenhouse gases by the removal or avoidance of an equivalent amount of carbon. This is done using Verified Carbon Units.
We hope to protect the planet at all costs, so have implemented several environmentally friendly procedures to help us achieve this.
While we have ambitious plans in place for the future, we’ve recently been making smaller, but nonetheless still very important, steps to kickstart our journey into protecting our planet.
AAC uses the most advanced environmentally friendly pre-treatment chemicals on the market. The state-of-the-art process is free from traditional hazardous heavy metals such as nickel and chromium. Our sophisticated process is completely free of phosphates. There is no danger in case of accidental discharge of phosphates into inland and costal waters.
Our process operates at an ambient temperature, meaning that bath heating is usually not required at process temperatures ranging between 25-30ºC. Consequently, a substantial reduction in energy usage has been attained.
All rainwater is captured in specially adapted gutters off our factory roof and held in purpose built storage tanks on site. This water is recycled in our pre-treatment process to minimise our water usage.
We scrutinise our business travel. We have introduced electric cars, we also have two charging points so far with plans for more. On non-essential meetings we endeavour to do as many as possible through teams meetings. Wherever possible, we use Microsoft Teams as a better option to face-to-face meetings.
All factory lighting has been upgraded to LED which are much more energy efficient. LED light bulbs use around 80% less energy than traditional bulbs. AAC recycle and re-use all packaging where possible.
AAC is working towards gaining the ISO 14001 accreditation in 2024.
ISO 14001 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system and can be certified to. It maps out a framework that a company or organization can follow to set up an effective environmental management system.
Designed for any type of organization, regardless of its activity or sector, it provides assurance to company management and employees as well as external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.
AAC will have over 700 solar panels on our factory roof by the end of 2024
AAC aim to be, in the summer at least Net Zero on electricity use, significantly reducing our environmental impact.
Our gas heated powder coating ovens will be modified and upgraded to utilise the latest technology to make them the most energy efficient on the market.
We are going to use a remote energy-monitoring system. This is to provide us valuable insights into our power consumption to save money by identifying wasted energy and improving efficiency.
We plan to switch all our lighting in the offices and the factory to motion-sensor lighting. We don’t need to rely on people turning off lights in unused areas, which will in turn help to reduce our energy consumption.
